If you're looking to remove unwanted or faded permanent makeup, it's important to choose a method that suits your skin and the type of pigment you're dealing with. At Inkluvv, I offer manual permanent makeup removal, a gentle yet effective process that works without the harshness of laser treatments. Whether you're correcting an old brow tattoo or dealing with stubborn eyeliner pigment, I'll guide you through the best removal options to achieve the results you want, while always prioritising the health of your skin.
Manual Permanent Makeup Removal: A Safe and Effective Solution

Almost all permanent makeup can be successfully removed and manual removal is a gentle and effective option. This method works by using a tattoo machine to carefully implant a specially formulated solution into the skin. The solution helps to lift and draw out the unwanted pigment, which is then naturally expelled as the skin heals and flakes.

How Does Manual Removal Work?
Using a tattoo machine, we gently introduce the removal solution into the treated area, targeting the pigment directly. Over the following days, the skin begins to heal, and as it flakes, the pigment is gradually drawn out. This process can take several sessions depending on the depth and color of the original pigment, but it allows for a precise and controlled removal process that minimises damage to the skin.

Manual Removal vs. Laser Removal: Which is Better?
Both manual and laser removal methods are effective, but each has its strengths depending on the type of permanent makeup -

Manual Removal - This method is ideal for smaller areas, such as eyebrows or eyeliner, where precision is key. It is also a great option for those who prefer a less aggressive approach, as it is generally gentler on the skin compared to laser removal. If more than one session is required, these can be carried out at 4-6 week intervals.
Laser Removal - Laser treatment tends to be more effective for larger or darker permanent makeup, or when pigment is deeply embedded. It’s often the go-to method for more extensive tattoo removal, or when multiple colours are involved or on very dark, overly saturated brows.
If more than one laser session is required, these can be carried out at approximately 8 week intervals.

While manual removal can be a better choice for delicate areas, I will always assess your situation and if I believe laser removal would be more effective, I can refer you to a trusted local specialist.

Healing Times and What to Expect
The healing process for manual removal is generally faster and less invasive than laser. After each session, you’ll experience some redness and flaking as the pigment is drawn out.
It usually takes around 7 days for the flaking to complete with full healing typically by 4 weeks, but you may need a few sessions to completely remove the pigment. In contrast, laser removal often requires a longer healing period, with more noticeable redness and possible swelling.

At the end of the day, the best removal method depends on your specific needs and skin condition. During your consultation, I’ll discuss your options and choose the best approach to ensure a safe, effective removal process which will not affect the integrity of the skin.
